The Preservation Priorities Task Force (PPTF) – a partnership between the National Preservation Partners Network and the National Trust for Historic Preservation – was formed in 2020 to tackle four critical, interconnected challenges facing the preservation movement today:
Affordable Housing and Density
Diversity, Inclusion, and Racial Justice
Preservation Trades and Workforce Development
Sustainability and Climate Action
Through this five-year initiative, the PPTF brings together preservation advocates from across the country to develop practical solutions and resources. The PPTF website offers a growing collection of tools, including Issue Briefs, case studies, webinar recordings, funding opportunities, and other external resources. These materials are designed to help local and statewide organizations, and the Task Force welcomes feedback and examples to expand and refine these resources over time.
New Tools for Advocacy: PPTF Infographics
One of the most effective communication tools developed by the PPTF is the Preservation Priorities Task Force Infographics. These visually engaging materials illustrate how preservation can address some of the most pressing issues facing our communities today – affordable housing, climate action, racial justice, and workforce development.
Designed to capture attention and spark meaningful dialogue, the infographics combine data, compelling images, and real-world case studies to engage stakeholders and decision-makers. They are available for FREE to anyone looking to demonstrate how preservation plays a vital role in shaping sustainable and inclusive communities.
Supporting Preservation Solutions in Arizona
The Arizona Preservation Foundation, a proud member of both the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the National Preservation Partners Network, fully supports the work of the Preservation Priorities Task Force and encourages the use of these new resources across the state.
“The PPTF Infographics are an essential tool to show how preservation connects to the broader challenges we face in Arizona – whether it’s increasing affordable housing, advancing social equity, addressing climate change, or expanding workforce opportunities,” said Jim McPherson, president of the Arizona Preservation Foundation’s board of directors. “These resources empower us to tell a more compelling story – one that resonates with policymakers, community leaders, and the public, reinforcing how preservation is a proactive solution to modern challenges.”
From preserving historic neighborhoods in Flagstaff to supporting adaptive reuse projects in Tucson and advancing preservation trades training in rural communities, these resources provide practical tools to strengthen preservation efforts throughout Arizona.
We invite you to explore these resources, share them widely, and join us in promoting preservation as a powerful solution to the critical issues shaping Arizona’s future.
