THREE STATE PARKS CLOSE, ARCHIVES CLOSES, AND HERITAGE FUNDS SWEPT BY STATE LEGISLATURE
Three state parks have been close indefinitely and eight more will remain on the chopping block as part of budget cuts approved in late February 2009 by the Arizona State Parks Board. Over $11.7 million in Heritage Fund grants (and projects underway) were swept by the State Legislature. The State Archives was closed, but after a public "revolt" reopened "by appointment only." For more information, visit the websites of the Arizona Heritage Alliance and Arizona State Parks Foundation.
